Job Title: Commercial Field Underwriter
Job Location: Remote - must be located in either Seattle, Portland or Salt Lake City
Salary: $120K-130k base salary
Requirements: 5+ years of Commercial underwriting experience (at least 2+ years must be in Field underwriting)

Position Overview

The Commercial Lines Field Underwriter will report directly to the Commercial Underwriting Manager. This position handles sales and underwriting for a specific group of agents in a defined territory. This role will require strong underwriting and marketing skills, managing new and renewal accounts, and requires regular in-person visits to agencies.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain strong relationships with assigned agencies through field visits and marketing partnerships
Monitor agency performance and evaluate commercial and/or farm submissions using advanced underwriting knowledge
Apply technical underwriting expertise to communicate procedures, coverage interpretations, and policy provisions, while discussing specific commercial risks and offering unique coverage solutions
Use effective persuasion and negotiation techniques to facilitate underwriting decisions and document the thought process appropriately
Support agents in winning new business, retaining renewals, identifying potential members, setting up marketing campaigns, and staying informed about market conditions and competitor actions
Travel within assigned territory will be required (50-100-mile radius)

Qualifications

2+ years of current Field Underwriting experience with a total of 6+ years in Commercial Multi Line Small, Middle Market, and Farm underwriting
Strong understanding of local marketplace and insurance industry trends, excellent verbal and written communication, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Skilled in quoting and binding commercial and farm new business submissions, and maintaining strong business relationships with coworkers and agents
Strong interpersonal skills, excellent time management, ability to work independently, and knowledge of facultative reinsurance and reinsurance treaties
Completed Bachelor's Degree
