Job Title: Injection Molding Field Service Engineer
Location:
- Texas and Midwest region (preferably IL, KY, MO, IN, or Southern OH).
Work Hours and Travel:
- Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm with paid overtime as necessary. Actual hours may vary based on customer needs.
- Significant travel, primarily in a multi-regional area, with frequent out-of-area and overnight travel.
- Possible international travel for training/conferences. Approximate travel is 80%.
Job Summary:
You'll be working with a pioneer and market leader in the US. The company celebrated its 185th anniversary in 2023. Since its subsidiary began operating in the US in 1966, it has become one of the leading manufacturers of plastics processing machines in North America. We support our customers in injection molding machinery, reaction process machinery, extrusion machinery, and integrated automation solutions. We are looking for an Injection Molding Field Service Engineer to provide technical support and troubleshooting services to customers over the phone, virtually, and at their facilities to install, repair, and optimize equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and restore function to equipment.
- Commission equipment and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Review work completed, costs, time, and additional work identified with manager and customer.
- Create detailed service reports.
- Conduct customer training on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Lead and train less experienced service personnel.
- Follow and create standardized procedures.
Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications:
- 3+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment or technical field
- Strong hydraulic knowledge
- Understanding of equipment function: Able to identify equipment functional locations and state general equipment functions for injection molding machine sub-assemblies (clamp unit, plasticizing unit, injection unit, hydraulic unit, and robots)
- Basic knowledge of electrical components (480V/220V, fuses, relays, contactors, motors)
- Basic knowledge of PLC programming and function (Allen Bradley, Sigmatek)
- Basic understanding of mechanical assemblies (conveyors, sprockets, belts, pulleys, gearboxes, centrifugal pumps, vacuum pumps)
- Basic knowledge of pneumatic conveying and troubleshooting (controls, actuators, valves)
- Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics as well as navigate OEM documentation
- Practical competency in safe mechanical/electrical tool use (hand and torque wrenches, calipers, multimeter, power tools, air tools, hydraulic testing equipment)
- Ability to operate lifting equipment such as forklifts, scissor-lifts, and other mobile lifts
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Time Management
- Ability to work collaboratively with local and cross-functional technical teams
- Effective verbal & written communication skills to support positive outcomes
- Competency in workflow software (MS Office, Innosoft, Concur, SAP)
