Produce Category Manager 


We are seeking a Produce Specialist for a local grocery chain, to take on a key role on the Supply Chain team, as the Category Manager for Produce Procurement for a local retail grocery outfit.

In this role, you will work to oversee the procurement and management of our fresh and organic produce categories, evaluate produce grades and standards, vendor data and trends, and work to  drive profitability, while ensuring consistent, high-level product quality, all the while working to foster and develop strong vendor relationships to optimize our supply chain and ensure deliverability of a quality product.

This is a KEY role, but it isn't ONLY for those that have ALREADY HELD a role at this level....this is a role that may be a fit for those with applicable produce supply chain experience, who are ready to take the next step in their careers into a Category Management position.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies for fresh and organic produce to maximize sales and profitability.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms and pricing.
• Conduct market analysis and consumer trends research to inform purchasing decisions.
• Collaborate with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and quality of produce.
• Monitor product performance and adjust strategies to meet changing market demands.
• Work closely with marketing to develop promotional strategies for produce categories.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in category management, specifically in fresh produce or grocery sectors.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of supply chain processes and procurement best practices.
• Experience working with organic produce is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
