We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Business Property Tax Accountant (open to Fixed Asset Accountants as well) to support both business license/permit renewals and personal property tax filings (primarily 571-L). This role is critical in ensuring compliance for hundreds of store locations and managing over 3,000 annual license renewals. The ideal candidate can be experienced in fixed asset accounting and demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and file business personal property tax returns (571-L) for multiple jurisdictions
Manage and renew business licenses and permits across California and out-of-state locations
Maintain and improve tracking systems for filings, including Excel-based store-level trackers
Collaborate with internal teams including Accounts Payable, Real Estate, Construction, and Store Operations
Support property tax audits by gathering documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
Maintain accurate fixed asset records for tax purposes (additions, disposals, cost adjustments)
Perform system imports/exports using various state and county portals
Stay current on tax regulations and ensure timely compliance with all filing deadlines

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in business property tax, fixed asset accounting, or license/permit renewals.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax compliance, and fixed asset principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
Experience with FAS (Fixed Asset System) and familiarity with Oracle or similar ERP systems.
Excellent research, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines with accuracy.
